Activities: Cowboys and cowgirls alike may enjoy the opportunity to take part in an authentic cattle drive. Lasting anywhere from a half day to a full day, the drives typically occur between May and October when the cattle are driven to spring grass areas or upper pastures throughout the summer and early fall months, before they are driven back to the ranch. Beginner to advanced riders are welcome, although riders should have the ability to ride with complete confidence.

Guests looking for a more relaxing (laidback) horseback riding experience can saddle up one of the ranch’s more than 70 horses for a scenic, guided trail ride. Available from April through October, the two-hour (or longer) trail rides combine breathtaking views of nearby Lake Roosevelt and the Columbia River with a variety of terrain, including open meadows and forests. Riders can even hit the trail to visit the nearby China Bend Winery—on the shores of the Columbia—to sample selections in the tasting room, or enjoy a cold brew in the lively atmosphere of the Crown Creek Saloon.

You don’t have to sit in a saddle all day to enjoy the bounty of Bull Hill Guest Ranch. A fisherman’s paradise awaits visitors at the ranch’s privately owned 20-acre lake. Reserved exclusively for guests, Ansaldo Lake features natural spring fed waters stocked with feisty (and big) Kamloops rainbow trout that fishermen can catch and release. The lake is also an ideal place for swimming from June until September and features an anchored float raft and boats for use by sun worshippers or fishermen.

A wide range of other recreational pursuits are also offered. Trap shooting, horseshoes, boating, biking, hiking, wildlife watching and day rides to the Columbia River with pack lunches are other guest favorites.

Side trips to the PRCA Colville Rodeo and Guided fishing charters on the Columbia River are available for guests at an additional charge.

Our large barn is where all rides begin and end. Guests are free to take part in saddling, grooming, feeding and hosing down the horses here. On select nights, the barn transforms into a lively setting for barn dances, fun for adults and children alike.
Lodging: The Cookhouse is the centerpiece of daily activities and socialization. Games, campfires, meals, beverages, snacks & starters are all available here. For adults, the open Cookhouse bar offers a cordial and friendly atmosphere after a day of play.

Bull Hill’s accommodations include seven, two-story cabins, two luxurious canvas wall tents and two executive-style luxury cabins—all located in private settings against a backdrop of cedars, cottonwoods and aspens.

Often times, it may be a packed-lunch stuffed into a saddle bag, or a picnic hamper for the lake, river or meadow. In the evening, guests join together for appetizers and a delicious dinner that may include steaks, home style BBQ, prime rib, chicken, salmon, salad, pastas, baked potatoes, rolls, home baked desserts and more. The open bar for adult guests adds to the convivial atmosphere. (All beer/wine/spirits are included in the all-inclusive rates).
